Inauguration Ceremony Held in Egypt for ELARABY TOYOICHI COMPANY FOR ENGINEERING GLASS S.A.E., a Joint Venture with ELARABY Group

Toyoichi Tsusho Launches Operations at New Glass Manufacturing Plant in Egypt
— ELARABY TOYOICHI COMPANY FOR ENGINEERING GLASS S.A.E., a Joint Venture “ETEG” with El Araby Group Officially Commences —

On July 12, 2025, Toyoichi held an official ceremony to mark the launch of operations at the newly established glass manufacturing plant of Elaraby Toyoichi Company for Engineering Glass S.A.E. (hereinafter “ETEG”) — a joint venture with El Araby Group, Egypt’s largest home appliance manufacturer.

The event was attended by a number of distinguished guests, including H.E. Kamel El-Wazir, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport; H.E. Fumio Iwai, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Egypt; and Dr. Amr Adly, President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST).

ETEG was founded as a joint venture between Toyoichi Tsusho and El Araby Group, and will initially focus on the production of insulated glass for residential use and architectural glass for commercial facilities.
Equipped with state-of-the-art tempering systems, the facility is capable of producing high-strength flat, curved, and tinted glass — up to 19mm in thickness and 6 meters in length — increasing the strength of float glass by approximately five times.

Egypt’s architectural glass market is rapidly expanding due to the country’s abundant deposits of high-purity silica (SiO₂), the primary raw material for glass, and the accelerating pace of urban development driven by population growth. This has created a growing demand for high-quality, locally produced glass to reduce reliance on imports.

Since its founding in 1985, Toyoichi Tsusho has supported the global expansion of Japanese products and contributed to industrial infrastructure development across Asia and the Middle East.
The company has also established joint ventures with El Araby Group in Hong Kong (2010), Thailand (2014), and Tokyo (2020), building a strong and enduring partnership over the years.

Looking ahead, ETEG plans to expand its production beyond architectural glass to include glass for automobiles and railway vehicles within the next few years.
Toyoichi Tsusho remains committed to fostering industrial development and supporting local communities throughout the Middle East and Africa.
